New details released on Polar Peak Chair

Today via a live chat session RCR released the top secret details on the new lift they are installing to the top of Polar Peak. Here are the direct quotes from RCR's Powder Matt:

Polar Peak lift is planned to be operational in the early part of the 2011/12 ski season - it will be a fixed grip triple chair with ride time of around 5 min. Accessing 20 new runs- one incredible intermediate ski run called Polar Circus! Cant wait to share the amazing views - from Montana to further up the Canadian Rockies into Kananaskis

If you had stood on my front porch today and looked way up to the very top of Polar Peak, you have seen a rather strange site, for there, parked right on the peak of the mountain, was a large backhoe.

There has been much drilling and blasting on the Currie Bowl side of Polar and the result, as can be seen in the picture above, is they have managed to carve a hairpin for the road up the mountain. Presumably this was the route taken by our high altitude excavator.
