Fernie Celebrates 50 Years With New Lift To Peak!

One of Canada's Best Ski Resorts, Fernie Alpine Resort, celebrates 50 years with new lift to peak, giving it the Biggest Vertical in the Canadian Rockies. New lift will take skiing to the top in Fernie, now boasting the most Ski Runs in the Canada.

the lift line in this photo shows the wrong alignment of the lift. This photo shows the base of the lift below the cliffs in Curry Glades. The pictures of construction show the base closer to the top traverse going to Curry Powder.

I have heard that this is the old, original Gold Chair lift from Nakiska that they replaced two years ago? My understanding is it was removed because it was old and slow (from original development of Nakiska for Calgary Olympics). If this is the case, all this hype is for nothing and classic RCR-style...going on the cheap. I have posted this question to their Facebook page 4 times today, only to have my comments deleted and now I am blocked from commenting at all - so it is obviously true. Once the locals and the press catch wind of this, there is going to be a stir after they have made such a big deal out of it being a "new" lift installation. Since RCR is now censoring even their Facebook page, spread the word and ask Powder Matt this pointed question in his live Chat next Wednesday.
